So I've arrived to New York, safe and sound and I have to say I miss Florida already. The heat, the blinding light, the tropical air... while the weather up here is definitely delightful, I guess I'm more of a palm tree kind of girl.
The flights (yes, plural, my dad can't in good conscience give me a direct--and more expensive--flight) were really nice, though the landing into Baltimore (where our connecting flight was) was far from smooth. Have you ever seen a fishtailing car? Have you ever been in a fishtailing car? Now let's add 100+ mph to the speed and make that a fishtailing plane. It was.... AWESOME! Haha, it definitely was not an average landing. I don't know what was wrong with the pilot (or perhaps the plane O.o) but the landing felt faster and steeper than usual, and when we actually got on the ground the plane swung back and forth a few times before straightening out. Once we were connected to the jetway and whatnot I could see this guy with a walkie talkie checking out the wing, having the pilot open the extra-landing-wing-gear and checking for general damage.
The second flight was pretty ordinary, but it was on a less than ordinary plane:
Behold the Nevada One, one of 14 Southwest planes specially painted with designs inspired by state flags. It's kind of funny that our second plane was one of these special planes, since I was reading about the debut of the Florida One on the first flight, in Southwest's "Spirit" magazine.
So that was the flight... we were picked up by S's parents and I stayed the night there. Then, yesterday, S drove me up to my aunt's house, where I'm staying until Wednesday. Then, off to school!

Whenever I think of planes I think of your fascination with them. I agree with your opening statements, there is just something unique about Florida. Glad the two of you made it back safely.
ReplyDeleteWow! That plane looks awesome!
